Native Men's Residence (Na-Me-Res) provides transitional housing for men, which foster and maintain a healthy sense of community, cooperation and self-worth through the promotion of traditional Native culture and values. The project consists of the comprehensive renovation of two adjacent Victorian Homes located at 192 and 194 Dunn Ave, in Toronto's Parkdale neighbourhood. The houses comprise of 22 affordable bachelor and one-bedroom units.
TWC successfully wrote four proposal applications to access capital funding for the project including CMHC SEED funding, CMHC RRAP funding, Miziwe Biik Development Corporation pre- development funding, and Miziwe Biik Development Corporation capital grant.
TWC acted as the housing development consultant, which included the tasks of creating a Housing Needs and Feasibility report, working with City planning staff, and conducting consultations with the key funding partners.
